Hair Loss Restoration

Our approach to hair restoration involves a thorough diagnosis using dermatoscopes and trichoscopy to identify the specific type of hair loss and tailor the treatment accordingly, especially for conditions like cicatricial alopecia, which can be irreversible and requires prompt care.

  • Medication for Hair Loss

Treating the underlying cause of hair loss is essential, and Dr. Parker may recommend pausing certain medications if they are contributing factors. For hereditary baldness, common treatments include Minoxidil (Rogaine), available at the Dermatology and Hair Institute, which can slow hair loss and promote regrowth with consistent use over six months, and Finasteride (Propecia), primarily for men, which has shown positive effects in both slowing hair loss and encouraging new growth. Additional options like spironolactone and oral dutasteride may also be prescribed, while low-level laser therapy, though FDA-approved, is not currently offered due to limited evidence on its long-term effectiveness.

  • PRP treatment for hair loss: Ultra-Platelet Rich Plasma

Dr. Parker offers Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy as a powerful option for hair restoration. PRP involves concentrating growth factors from the patient’s own blood to stimulate scalp rejuvenation, improve blood flow, and promote new blood vessel formation around hair follicles, which enhances hair growth.

Using a unique method to prepare ultra-concentrated PRP, Dr. Parker aims to optimize follicle nourishment and support sustainable hair growth and regeneration.

  • FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)

A hair transplant technique where healthy hair follicles are removed from a donor area, typically the sides or back of the head, and transplanted to thinning areas like the hairline or crown. Dr. Parker’s team uses a specialized extraction tool, imported from South Korea for its precision, to carefully extract and implant one to four hair follicles at a time, ensuring natural hair growth patterns. By meticulously placing each follicle at the correct angle, Dr. Parker achieves a seamless blend that closely mimics the patient’s original hair.

  • FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant)

Technique involves transplanting hair from a donor area at the back or sides of the scalp, where hair is more resistant to balding, to balding areas. In this procedure, a strip of tissue is removed from the donor site, then carefully dissected under high-magnification Italian microscopes into individual follicular units containing 1 to 4 hairs. These grafts are then implanted into the recipient area to create a natural-looking hairline and coverage.
